Dry Egg Noodles, by memory

>> Saturday, May 12, 2012

It was a decision to make wan ton mee (dry egg noodles) on some fine day, never had a chance to post them on my blog and decided to do that today just so you know that I'm still alive and kicking. I hardly have enough sleep, reports after reports, one after another still chasing after the finish line. Fortunately, I have met a close friend whom enjoys food over a good chat just as much as me. I was definite she hasn't taste anything quite like this before. It wasn't the best that I've made here, or any that I've tasted outside because I made it without MSG, so would you compromise taste for food additives, or food  additives for taste?

The wonton was homemade by me too. It was rather bland, I'm guessing I will have to over season it the next time. I bought the wonton skins and filled it with chicken mince and shrimp.

Here goes the wonton mee with very lean char siew chicken.
Hope you have a great weekend too.

Hi Henry,
Unfortunately at where I am I can't be particular on the asian condiments. The noodles were bought, and all I did was toss them with light soy sauce and dark soy sauce with a little bit of sesame oil. A trick my mum used to teach me was to place the whole noodle into the boiling water for approx 40 seconds, then move it to shock in cold water for 20 seconds and back to the boiling water until it cooks to preserve the texture of the noodles. Hope you'll have a go at that. ;)

Tracy, that looks superlicious! How are you? Are you back in KL?

Hi Veronica, I'm still in Brissy, which explains why I had to go through all the trouble instead of forking out RM5~ for won ton mee..

I love won ton mee. I always order the big size one or else I feel I haven't had enough. Its a great idea to make this at home.

I always love to make wonton at home too. And they taste so nice. I prefer to the red oil version. Anyway, I will make wonton this weekend.
